Draft: this guide describes a feature customers can't use yet, so production leaves it out.
A customer’s details
The Contact panel beside a thread holds what your team knows about the customer, and anyone on the team can change it right there.
Beside each thread, the Contact panel shows:
- First name and Last name.
- Company and Job title.
- Phone: the customer’s number. It can’t be changed, because the thread belongs to it.
- Email.
- Line: which of your numbers they contacted.
- First texted: when the thread started.
- About: what your team should know before talking to them.
To fill in or change a field, click it and type. It saves when you click away or press Enter; press Esc to put back what was there. In About, Enter starts a new line, so click away or press Command-Enter (Ctrl-Enter on Windows) to save.
The details belong to your whole team, so a teammate sees what you write. Once a customer has a name, it shows on their threads in the list and at the top of the thread in place of their number; with only a company filled in, the company shows. Under About, the panel says who changed the details last and when. If an email doesn’t look right, the panel says so under it and keeps what you typed so you can fix it.
In a window narrower than 1,280 pixels, the panel opens over the thread; choose Close to put it away.
On your phone, the Contacts tab lists every customer from A to Z. Tap one to open their thread.
