Draft: this guide describes a feature customers can't use yet, so production leaves it out.
Message or call a teammate
Open a teammate’s card from their face or name, then send them a direct message or call them over Soja.
Point at a teammate’s face or name in a channel, at an @mention of them, or at their row in Settings, and their card opens after a moment: their photo, name, email and role, their status and bio if they’ve set them, and whether they’re Online in Soja right now. Choosing the face opens the card at once, which is how it opens on a phone.
Send a direct message
- On their card, choose Message.
- Write what you want to say, and press Enter.
Only the two of you see a direct message. It’s listed under Direct messages in the sidebar, and they hear about each message you send, on every device they turned notifications on for. Type @ and a customer’s number to link that customer’s thread.
Call a teammate
Choose Call on their card, or at the top of your direct messages with them. The first time, your browser asks to use your microphone: allow it.
Wherever they have Soja open, it rings, with Answer and Decline. Devices they turned notifications on for show “A teammate is calling”, so they hear it with Soja closed.
While you’re talking, Mute turns your microphone off until you choose Unmute, and Hang up ends the call.
A call between teammates goes over the internet from one Soja to the other, not over the phone network, so it doesn’t use your team’s numbers.
When they can’t pick up
- If nobody answers within 45 seconds, the call stops and their devices show Missed call.
- If they’re already on a call, you’ll see On another call.
- If your connection drops for a moment, the call carries on when it’s back.
Calls and direct messages are in the web and desktop apps. The phone app doesn’t have them yet.
