Import your leads

In Contacts, choose Import. Bring your leads in any of these ways:

• Drop a file on Drop a file here, or choose Choose a file: a CSV, vCards, or JSON. For an Excel or Numbers file, save it as CSV first, or copy its cells and paste them.
• Paste them under Or paste them: cells copied from a spreadsheet, a CSV, vCards, an email signature, or a list written in your own words. Then choose Read them. Soja reads words that aren’t a table and picks out the names, numbers, companies and emails.
• Tell Soja who to add, in the chat.

Every lead needs a US or Canadian phone number, because your contacts are kept by number. One import takes up to 5,000 rows.

Check them over

Before anything goes in, each row shows where it stands:

• New: nobody on your team has this number yet.
• Adds details: the number is already saved, and the row fills in what’s missing, such as an email.
• Already saved: the number is saved and the row adds nothing.
• Same number as row …: an earlier row has this number. What this row adds goes to that row, so the customer is added once.
• No number, or Not a US or Canadian number: the row can’t go in.
• Maybe …: a new number, but the same email, or the same name at the same company, as someone already saved. Check it before importing.

For a table, Columns in shows what each column was read as. If one is wrong, choose what it holds, or Ignore.

Tick or untick a row to put it in or leave it out. The buttons above the rows show only one kind, such as Maybe saved or Left out.

An import only fills in what saved contacts are missing. Turn on Replace details already saved to change what they have instead. It never clears a field.

Choose Import with the number going in. Add more brings in another file or paste, and Start over clears the review.

Let Soja sort them

Choose Ask Soja at the foot of the page. Soja sees the same rows you do, and can:

• leave rows out or put them back, such as “leave out rows with no company”
• point out rows that may already be saved
• fix rows, such as giving everyone from one show the same note
• fix a column that was read wrong
• import them when you say so

You can also drop a file on the chat or paste a list into it, and it goes into the review the same way.

The review stays while you move around the app, until you import it. Reloading the page clears it.
